Häädemeeste Secondary School is located in a quiet countryside at Häädemeeste, Pärnu county in the South-West of Estonia by the Baltic Sea. Häädemeeste township is 180 km from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, and 140 km from Riga, the capital of Latvia. The closest town Pärnu is 40 kilometres from Häädemeeste. It is a seaside resort. It is about 30 kilometres from Häädemeeste to Estonian-Latvian border. There are lots of forests and sand dunes in the area and the school works closely together with the local Forest Management Centre in Kabli (Nature Centre). At Häädemeeste township there are two churches (the Lutherian and the Orthodox). There are two libraries at Häädemeeste. Also, there is an emergengy centre, a police station, a post office, a pub and four shops.
At school there are 174 students from age 7 to 19. The days start at 8:00 and finish at about 14:30. The school has a new big gym and many sports such as volleyball, floorball, badminton, and football are popular. The school has a classroom with 20 computers and ICT is more and more integrated to the studies. The school has different extra-curricular activities such as chess, robotics, art, music, handicrafts, volleyball.
At secondary level (years 10 – 12) students get lot of individual attention and they can choose between business, history of culture, national defence, biology, art and architecture and Spanish as additional subjects. English as a first foreign language, Russian and German as a second foreign language is taught at school. There is an active Students’ Council at school.
